In the age of simulated realities, poetry allows you to bring words to life. Have you ever pictured your thoughts lasting forever? Have you ever thought when I write I AM free? We became in agreement that our talent worked cohesively together and gave birth to a masterpiece. Pleasures: Love, Sex, and Poetic Stories is a collection of poems and poetic short stories by DeJuan Cuffee and Sharon Evans that explore themes of love, lust, relationships, passion, and longing. The authors adeptly showcase their talents with wordplay soaked in hip-hop inspired lyrical eroticism, as well as through their intergalactic expressions, and often straight forward language. There are beautiful illustrations provided throughout the book that complement several poems providing vivid color and expressionism. Delicacies include masterfully crafted flows that address the highs and lows of love through tales of high adventure or through clever, confessional back and forth banters. There are sultry sexual escapades, humorous one-liners, and emotional sagas for the readers (both couples and singles) to enjoy. The authors, while effortlessly balancing and blending their voices, in the process ended up forming their own poetic language, and we are all the better for it.

Black History: A Dream I Had is a spectacular poetry book for all ages, kids and grownups alike, that delivers the Black history experience in a fun, educational, engaging, and entertaining way. Each poem is written about a significant individual figure in Black history and is accompanied by a bright beautiful illustration of that person. Every poem is gracefully crafted with a hip-hop flow giving you a brief rundown on some of the individual's accomplishments, contributions, and achievements, just enough to leave the audience thirsty for more. For some this book will serve as a reminder of our history and the great achievements by these amazing people, for others it will be an introduction to these wonderful human beings, and for all it can be a great conversation piece, that entices you to dig deeper and find out more about each person discussed in this book. Dare to be entertained and enlightened.

Legacy: The Cure for Poetry, Hip-Hop, and Spoken Word (Volume Three) is the third and final book of the "Cure for Poetry, Hip-Hop, and Spoken Word" trilogy in which the author, DeJuan Cuffee (Sultan), continues to alter the poetic landscape as we know it. Once again setting the bar high with each poem in this anthology, the author continues to take you on a fascinating journey in which you will get his unique and eloquently stated perspectives on social issues such as racism and politics, themes on love, sex, and romance, well thought out pieces on Black culture and consciousness, as well as everyday life experiences. Other enjoyable reads throughout the book include cautionary tales filled with dramatic storytelling stanzas, pieces on the author's love for his family, music, and sports, or timely inspirational quotes of hope, and reflective passages providing valuable lessons, all delivered with passion and hip-hop inspired lyricism throughout.

Beyond an Era: The Cure for Poetry, Hip-Hop, and Spoken Word (Volume Two) is the second of a three-book trilogy in which the author, DeJuan (Sultan), continues to alter the poetic landscape as we know it. Once again setting the bar high with each poem in this anthology, the author continues to take you on a magical journey in which you’ll get his unique and eloquently stated perspectives on life. There are plenty of highlights to choose from in this book, whether its DeJuan proudly expressing his love and joy for his beautiful daughter, or the very poem he read to his lovely bride at their wedding, the sheer suspense or comedy of his storytelling stanzas with life lessons throughout, or his hip-hop inspired lyricism, from his protest poetry (informative passages revealing the treacheries of institutional racism), to a conscious voice speaking directly to the Black community. His poems give the reader insight into the hard truths and beauty of the Black experience in America; but more than that, his imagination and words confidently take you beyond that, blazing a trail where anything is possible, yet all along paying homage to his maker (God). With its message of hope, Beyond an Era is a collection of poems that will both entertain and enlighten the reader, taking you through a series of emotions, all along merely scratching the surface of what lies beneath. Enjoy the ride.

Words for the Soul: The Cure for Poetry, Hip-Hop, and Spoken Word (Volume One) is the first of a three book trilogy which describes the author’s definition of beauty. In Words for the Soul, the author takes you on journeys which range from love and fiery passion, a land of dreams and fantasy, to the dark, dreary, and at times tragic aspects of society. Various themes include social issues such as racism, poverty, politics, romance, love, sex, music, conspiracy theories, battle rhyming, Black culture, everyday life experiences, crime stories, and inspirational quotes. Words for the Soul is an assortment of poems that form an anthology the likes of which have never been seen before.

5.0 out of 5 stars“ I write like my birth was God’s revenge”

Format: Kindle Edition |Verified Purchase

Words for The Soul is a lustrous insight into the mind of one of the most ingenious poets on the planet. I’ve been vibing and reading Dejuan work close to a decade now. His wordplay is so dope like he’s a mad scientist cooking up experiments for the word to sample. One of my favorite lines from the book was “I write like my own therapist, just a couple more lines and I’ll take care of this, sniff the details as I finger f. the narrative”
Dejuan was g in this book. He once quoted “I write like my birth was God’s revenge”
I was like ooouu. That line is sick. The brother broke down all his alter egos after taking you to another dimension. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde couldn’t even hold a candle to his sick and twisted brain. This book will encourage you to strive for greatness, make you remember we all have a past, intimacy, and push poetry back to the front line of battle. Better be ready for war and love with this one.

Official Review: “Pleasures” is a great read for anyone who has a beating heart because it paints vivid images of love and passion in all of its forms. The good, the bad, the sexy, and even the down right ugly. The very first poem pulls you in from start to finish. The Don did his thang with this and I’ve been enjoying every minute of it.

P.S. Thank you for the autograph and letter. I truly appreciate the kind gestures.

Official Review: Sharon D. Evans, “Pleasures” was a fun book to read. I still bust out laughing when thinking about some of those lines. And something about “Cosmic Connection” had me reading it a couple of times! You and The Don make a great team. Congrats again!!
