One Weekend (2018)

One Weekend part 2.jpg

“There’s a lot of money in that white powder,”

It’s amazing how the drug game made kings out of cowards,

That lust for the money led to far too many bullet showers,

Young Black kids devoured,

Mother’s dressed in Black receiving flowers,

Countdown to Armageddon is in a couple of hours

You idolized those that gained fame and acclaim

From the crack game,

Formed many a gang,

Made it cool to slang,

Dropout and open up a dope house,

Develop your whip game,

Ensuring your race is choked out,

Smoked out,

You may as well have the Klan bring the ropes out,

This is what being “woke” is about,

But you’re too concerned with not being

Broke in a drought,

Fast money rarely lasts homie,

Prison is lonely,

Death proves your brief existence was phony…

“There’s a lot of money in that white powder,”

It’s amazing how the drug game made kings out of cowards,

That lust for the money led to far too many bullet showers,

Young Black kids devoured,

Mother’s dressed in Black receiving flowers,

Countdown to Armageddon is in a couple of hours

What do you believe in?

Apparently, robbing, killing, and deceiving,

As it is yet another season

Of mothers and fathers grieving,

Oh yeah, you’re cool,

Cooler than a body freezing to death,

A generation of do-nothings being fed poison

By the chefs,

Went from cooking up crack to crystal meth,

You wanted to be like Scarface,

Until the end of the flick,

Eleven more killed the other day,

That’s just hood politics,

Trying to get rich quick,

Or die young,

And just miss being a convict,

You claim you had no choice,

I say you copped out and chose Satan’s voice,

The wicked system of racism

Put you in quite a predicament,

It being the reason for many of our ills is legitimate,

A cesspool,

Where poverty, violence, and broken schools

Are tools to the trade,

American made,

But wait,

When does one take responsibility

For their wayward ways?

I mean, I realize equality is still a long way away,

And remnants of being slaves

Is still a heavy price to pay,

But how many more young men

Have to be shot in the face?

Bodies piling up like hamburgers,

Survival of the fittest

Has our youth committing mass murders,

The nerve of…

You bitching about Zimmerman and those killer cops!

Because I’ve seen ya’ll catch more bodies in one weekend!

One Weekend!

Than Greg Gunn, Tamir Rice, Akai Gurley, Paul O’Neal,

Eric Garner, Freddie Gray, Walter Scott,

Sandra Bland, Akiel Denkins, Alton Sterling,

Michael Brown, and Trayvon Martin….
