Strangers (2017)

Strangers.jpg

We were strangers before we met,

Before all the hickies on your neck,

Before your coochie got all wet

From the hot sex,

We were strangers…

We were strangers before we met,

Before we watched the sunset,

Picked out our dining set,

We were strangers…

We were strangers before we met,

Before we matched wits,

And exposed our intellect,

Before we shared our paychecks,

And grew through mutual admiration,

And respect,

We were strangers…

Before the paradise and lovely skies,

We fly,

Daring to multiply our harmony with romance in supply,

Rhymes initialized,

Immortalized upon your canvas,

You captivated me,

Held the hard-on as long as I could manage,

Ready to do damage,

I mean, make love like God intended,

From a different planet,

You could tell by my lack of interest

In society’s gimmicks,

You helped mold my image,

Went from self-absorbed and sinning,

To confident and winning,

It was only the beginning,

I studied the arts prior to our spark,

Had my life together

Before our life together started,

As did you,

Reminisce on my wasted youth

That went missing like those children

On those 80s milk cartons,

Before we could add a life,

I had to make you my wife…

We were strangers before we met,

Before all the hickies on your neck,

Before your coochie got all wet

From the hot sex,

We were strangers…

We were strangers before we met,

Before we watched the sunset,

Picked out our dining set,

We were strangers…

Our climax was announced

More times than I can count,

Upon your private parts I pounced,

Bleeding heart by the ounce,

Heavenly, when we just lounge,

Establishing kingdom, legacies, and accounts,

Our health is still worth more than any amount,

Love our skin tone,

Freckles when we bone,

My mind been blown,

As in letters under stones,

Went from the coolest,

To not even caring,

No comparing,

I write rhymes until our maker says its time,

Woman, you are mine,

And our shine can only be defined

By a King and Queen so refined,

Black Love mountain climb,

Sultan and Empress,

Long legged temptress,

When time allows,

We pimp bliss,

Woo…just missed…

We were strangers before we met,

Before all the hickies on your neck,

Before your coochie got all wet

From the hot sex,

We were strangers…

We were strangers before we met,

Before we watched the sunset,

Picked out our dining set,

We were strangers…

We were strangers before we met,

Before we matched wits,

And exposed our intellect,

Before we shared our paychecks,

And grew through mutual admiration,

And respect,

We were strangers…

I used to be addicted to super heroes

And science fiction (still am),

Now our youngest is rummaging through our third kitchen,

Thank God daily for putting us in this position,

It was my decision to turn off all the noise

And just listen,

For the words “yes,”

And later “I do,”

Sipping on you know who

At some expensive rendezvous,

Life’s muse is all too cute,

Yet poetically, in heavy pursuit,

The way my words are grouped,

I elevate fancy dates into knocking boots,

Put our good looks to use,

Create yet another lifeform with the juice…

We were strangers before we met,

Before we matched wits,

And exposed our intellect,

Before we shared our paychecks,

And grew through mutual admiration,

And respect,

We were strangers…
